Laguiole – Tom’s

Laguiole is the name of a small village located in south central France, it is not a brand of knives, it is a style of cutlery.

Each handmade knife takes several hours or even days to manufacture. Over 40 successive steps are needed to realize one. The quality of the finish, the strength of the blade and the spring, the thickness of the bolsters and plates, as well as the accuracy of the calibration are the elements that contribute to its longevity.

Important fact to consider: Only two manufacturers produce hand made Laguiole knives for exports in the village of Laguiole, France. They are La Coutellerie de Laguiole aka “Laguiole de L’Artisan” and “Les Forge de Laguiole” (the forges of Laguiole).
